The Rise of Air Asia

Through strategic market expansion efforts, Mack Air played a pivotal role in creating and growing the low-cost air travel market in Sri Lanka, helping strengthen AirAsia’s presence in the country. Our expertise drove flight frequency growth, increasing Malaysia flights from 3 to 14 per week. Building on this success, AirAsia Thailand introduced Bangkok with 3 weekly flights which was subsequently increased to daily flights and 10 weekly flights for the 2025/26 winter schedule. Beyond frequencies, we successfully promoted AirAsia’s network beyond Malaysia and Thailand, unlocking new travel opportunities and driving sustained growth.

Four Decades with Gulf Air

For over 40 years, Mack Air has proudly represented Gulf Air in Sri Lanka, driving market growth and increasing traffic to Europe while redefining the airline’s presence beyond the Gulf region in this market. We also played a key role in securing pilgrim movements for Hajj and Umrah. Our strong relationships and proven success contributed to Gulf Air’s expansion from two weekly flights post Covid to daily operations and the securing of 5th freedom rights to Male. We continuously managed to achieve a ~97% space utilization with high yield commodities.

Success Through the Seasons with Air France-KLM

Mack Air played a key role in the successful expansion of Air France/KLM's seasonal operations. Despite regional challenges in tourism and travel, Air France winter operations were successfully concluded by achieving the required load factors and yields. The company was also involved in obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals and setting up the airport operations in a short span of time. This success led to Air France becoming the first airline post Covid to confirm a winter schedule to Sri Lanka for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons.

Jet Airways Expansion

Mack Air played a key role in Jet Airways’ expansion in Sri Lanka, managing its offline operations before paving the way for online services in 2004. Starting with just two weekly flights to Chennai, we were instrumental in establishing Jet Airways as a carrier capable of carrying passengers to destinations beyond India, while positioning select Indian airports as hubs for Sri Lankan travelers to Europe, US and Canada. Our efforts drove remarkable growth, with Jet Airways expanding to 35 weekly flights, including double daily services to Chennai and daily flights to Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi, a true testament to our commitment in terms of achieving the airline’s vision.
